Suraj Panwar : A gem in Indian athletics

Suraj Panwar, a promising name in Indian athletics, has emerged as a significant talent in the racewalking discipline. Born on April 5, 2000, in the scenic city of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Suraj’s journey to becoming one of India’s top racewalkers is a story of grit and determination.

Suraj grew up in a modest family, where sports were not a primary focus. However, his passion for athletics began to take shape during his school years at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun. It was here that his coaches recognized his potential in racewalking, a demanding and technical event in track and field. With their guidance, Suraj started participating in various state and national competitions.

His breakthrough came in 2018 when he won a silver medal in the 10,000 meters racewalk at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This achievement not only put him on the map internationally but also made him one of the youngest racewalkers to bring glory to India on such a significant platform.

Suraj Panwar continues to train rigorously, balancing his education with his sports career. His dedication to racewalking, combined with his humble beginnings, makes him a role model for aspiring athletes across the country.
