Manpreet Singh, born on June 26, 1992, in Mithapur, Punjab, is one of the most prominent names in Indian hockey today. Known for his exceptional leadership, game intelligence, and versatility as a midfielder, Manpreet has become the backbone of the Indian national hockey team.
Manpreet’s hockey journey began in the hockey-rich state of Punjab, where he was inspired by the legendary Indian hockey player Pargat Singh, also from Mithapur. Manpreet’s early training at the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar honed his skills and discipline, preparing him for the challenges of international hockey. His natural talent and hard work quickly saw him rise through the ranks of junior hockey.
Manpreet made his senior debut for India in 2011 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup when he was just 19 years old. His ability to control the midfield, distribute the ball effectively, and drive forward attacks made him an indispensable part of the team. Over the years, his performances in major tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and the FIH Hockey World Cup, earned him recognition as one of the finest midfielders in the game.
