Anjum Moudgil: Indian Rifle Shooter

Anjum Moudgil is a prominent Indian rifle shooter, born on January 5, 1994, in Chandigarh. She took an interest in shooting during her school days at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School. Moudgil completed her graduation in humanities from DAV College and later pursued a post-graduate degree in sports psychology from Panjab University.

Anjum’s international career began to soar in 2016 when she won a gold medal at the South Asian Games. She continued to achieve success with a silver in the 10m Air Rifle individual event and a bronze in the 50m Rifle Prone at the 2017 Commonwealth Games. In 2018, she secured a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Mexico and a silver at the Commonwealth Games, breaking a qualification record with an impressive score of 589.

By 2019, Moudgil had risen to become World No. 2 in the 10m Air Rifle ISSF rankings and India’s top shooter in the Women’s 50m Rifle Three Positions event. She was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award the same year. Representing India at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, she has now qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics in her signature 50m Rifle Three Positions event .
